Drone Safety: Look Up Before You Fly

Drones are becoming increasingly common for photography, farming, real estate, inspections and even emergency response. While they can be useful tools, it is important to keep electrical safety in mind before taking flight. Always look up and be aware of power lines, poles, substations and other electrical equipment in the area. Never fly a drone near or around electrical infrastructure. If your drone crashes near electrical equipment or becomes tangled in our power line, do not attempt to retrieve it. Stay clear of the area and contact Lake Region Electric Cooperative for assistance. A drone can be replaced. Your safety cannot. Look up before you fly and keep a safe distance from electrical equipment.
