Hamid Vahdatipour Honored with OAEC Hall of Fame Induction
This week, we proudly celebrate a true leader, mentor, and champion of rural cooperatives, Hamid Vahdatipour, on being inducted into the OAEC – Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives Hall of Fame.
Hamid’s legacy is defined by dedication, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to the people we serve. Beginning his career as an Accounting Clerk, he rose through the ranks to become General Manager and CEO, helping shape Lake Region Electric Cooperative into the organization it is today.
His vision extended far beyond electricity. Under his leadership, Lake Region became the first cooperative in Oklahoma to deploy fiber-to-the-home, bringing high-speed internet to rural communities that had long been overlooked. He also stepped in to take over a local water company to ensure access to clean water for residents near Tenkiller Lake, further demonstrating his commitment to improving quality of life in rural areas.
Even in retirement, Hamid’s dedication to the cooperative never wavered. During a time of transition, he returned to serve as interim CEO, continuing to lead with the same integrity and care that defined his career. His love for the cooperative and its members was evident in every decision he made.
Hamid’s leadership and passion have left a lasting mark not only on Lake Region, but on the cooperative community across Oklahoma. His contributions will continue to benefit members for generations to come.
Congratulations to Hamid Vahdatipour on this well-deserved OAEC Hall of Fame honor.
