Important Update for LREC Prepaid Members: What You Need to Know

Lake Region Electric Cooperative (LREC) wants to keep prepaid members informed about an important update to our Prepaid Terms and Conditions regarding payments and electric service reconnection. When a prepaid account balance drops below $0.00, electric service is automatically disconnected. Once a payment is made, service is typically restored remotely. However, occasional technical issues may require LREC crews to visit the location to manually restore power.

Why Payment Timing Matters

To provide the best opportunity for same-day service restoration, LREC encourages prepaid members whose service has been disconnected to make payments before 2:30 p.m.

Members should be aware of the following:

  • Payments made before 2:30 p.m. provide the best opportunity for same-day reconnection. However, restoration cannot be guaranteed if technical issues occur.

  • Payments made at or after 2:30 p.m. may result in service not being restored until the next business day if manual reconnection is necessary.

  • Payments made outside regular business hours may also result in delayed restoration if a crew must visit the location to manually reconnect service.

Planning Ahead Can Help Prevent Interruptions

Prepaid members are encouraged to monitor their account balances and make payments before their balance drops below $0.00 to avoid an interruption in electric service. This update is intended to help members plan ahead while allowing LREC crews adequate time to address any reconnection issues during regular business hours.
