Keeping the Lights On, No Matter the Weather
This week, the heat index across Oklahoma reached anywhere from 105°F to 116°F, with conditions feeling even hotter for those working in the direct sun. Despite the extreme temperatures, Lake Region Electric Cooperative linemen continued working across our service territory, building and maintaining the lines our members depend on every day. Extreme heat is just one of the many conditions our crews face throughout the year. From hot summer days to freezing temperatures, storms, high winds, and rain, their work continues in nearly every kind of weather. Whether making system improvements, building new line, performing routine maintenance, or responding to outages, our crews work every day to help keep reliable power flowing to the members and communities we serve. The work can be demanding, especially when Mother Nature adds another challenge to the day. Our linemen take it all in stride as part of the job, doing what they do best every day: serving our members and keeping the lights on.
