Record-Breaking Turnout Marks Successful 77th LREC Annual Meeting
The 77th Lake Region Electric Cooperative (LREC) Drive-Through Annual Meeting proved to be a resounding success, thanks to favorable weather, efficient traffic flow, and strong member participation. LREC welcomed an impressive 1,924 members, marking the highest attendance in the cooperative’s history. Members actively participated in the governance of their co-op, demonstrating the strength of democratic member control. A business quorum was achieved, with more than 5 percent of registered members taking part.
A key component of the meeting was the election of two trustees to serve three-year terms on the LREC Board of Trustees. Four candidates competed for the at-large positions, with members casting their votes throughout the drive-through process. Following the official tally at the business meeting, Alan Vann and Lynn Lamons received the most votes and were elected to serve on the board.
Trustee Election Results:
- Alan Vann – 1,020 votes
- Lynn Lamons – 966 votes
- Dianna Mayfield – 931 votes
- Stanley Young – 411 votes
In addition to the election, members approved the previous year’s business meeting minutes, continuing the cooperative’s commitment to transparency and member involvement.
As a token of appreciation, all registered members who participated in voting received a $30 bill credit. Members were also entered into cash prize drawings, adding excitement to the day’s events. The grand prize of $1,000 was awarded to Jenessa Schmitt of Peggs, Porter Nell of Hulbert received $500, and Christena Phillips of Porter won $250. These winners can expect to receive their prizes this week. Additional prize winners included Gerald Trammel, Paula McFarland, Billy R Hicks Jr, Rita Church, Sherry Daniels, Tammy L Dry, and Lucinda Frisbie, who each received $100. Anna L Posey, Brett Forrest, Jeff Mueller, Anthony Cornell, Terry Davis, New Wine Fellowship, Barney Beaumont, Mary Morris, Alan Vann, Janetta Garrett, Mike Lamons, Leslie D Barnes, Terry Johnson, Brady L Gilliam, Cory Cooper, Ray Mabe, Christine Sumner, Rhonda Wilson, Mary Robbins, David R Golden, and Christena Mendez each received $50.
LREC extends sincere appreciation to all members and employees who contributed to making this year’s annual meeting a success. The record-breaking turnout and smooth execution reflect the strength of the cooperative and the continued commitment of its members.
