RE:Member What Makes Your Cooperative Different
October is National Co-op Month, and at Lake Region Electric Cooperative, we’re celebrating what makes the cooperative business model different. This month, our employees are sporting Lake Region blue and wearing our RE:Member shirts as a reminder that the people we serve are more than customers. You are members and owners of your cooperative.
That distinction matters.
As a member-owned electric cooperative, Lake Region exists to serve the people and communities at the end of our lines. Our employees take that responsibility seriously. Whether we are working in the field, answering the phones, keeping the lights on or serving behind the scenes, we are proud to serve our members every day.
Member-Owned
When you receive electricity from Lake Region, you are more than a customer. You are a member of the cooperative. Unlike investor-owned utilities, electric cooperatives are owned by the members they serve.
Locally Controlled
Lake Region is governed by a board of trustees elected by our membership. Decisions are made locally, with the needs of our members and communities in mind.
Community Focused
Our commitment extends beyond providing safe and reliable electricity. Our employees live, work and raise their families in the communities we serve. We support local schools, organizations, events and programs because concern for community is at the heart of the cooperative model.
Throughout Co-op Month, we encourage you to RE:Member what makes your electricity different and what it means to be part of a cooperative that is member-owned, locally controlled and community focused.
One more thing we think is worth RE:Membering: Member > Customer.
