When Rural America Calls, Rural Oklahomans Respond
Winter Storm Fern wreaked havoc across much of the nation over the weekend, bringing heavy snow and ice. Ice accumulation poses one of the greatest threats to electric cooperatives, as it can snap power lines, poles, and surrounding vegetation, and create hazardous working and driving conditions for crews. We are incredibly grateful that Lake Region experienced minimal impact to our electrical infrastructure from this storm. Unfortunately, many communities and states were not as fortunate.
Early this morning, six Lake Region linemen loaded up, left their territory and their families, and answered a mutual aid request from Mississippi. They are headed to assist Tallahatchie Valley Electric in northwest Mississippi.
Linemen en route, pictured left to right, are Cory Bloxsom, Gavin Henson, David Killebrew, Layne Marshall, Cale Orman, and Levi Carson. Traveling with two bucket trucks, one digger derrick truck, and two backyard machines, these crews are bringing years of experience and expertise to help restore power to fellow Americans in northwest Mississippi. Please keep our linemen in your prayers as they work, and continue to pray for the safety and recovery of all those impacted by Winter Storm Fern.
Co-op Principle 6: Cooperation Among Cooperatives
One of the seven cooperative principles we live by is simple: co-ops help co-ops. We are grateful for the times other crews have helped us, and we are proud to return that support when it is needed.
